Where to stay
On the edge of the Dam square lies the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, a hotel that perfectly captures the duality of Amsterdam: brimming with life and yet relaxing and charming. Once a small coffee house run by Mr. Krasnapolsky, today it has become a luxury hotel of the first order, charming visitors with lavish guest rooms, situated in 55 canal houses that have grown together over the years.
There is much to experience in terms of culinary delight too. The White Room, the hotel’s exclusive Michelin-starred restaurant run by chef de cuisine Tristan de Boer serves up exquisite culinary experiences. Three Michelin star chef Jacob Jan Boerma is the advisor. The award-winning cocktail bar The Tailor and the modern-yet-elegant Grand Café Krasnapolsky provide elegant yet accessible places to meet for a drink or a coffee. With the city’s museum and shopping districts a stone’s throw away, this is the perfect base to explore the heritage and cultural treasures of the city.

THE WHITE ROOM RESTAURANT
The hotel’s Michelin-star restaurant is one of the oldest in Amsterdam. It has been kept in its original shape, a banquet hall of white and gold that dates back to 1885. Despite the historical aspect it ensures a distinctively contemporary experience. Arne: ‘I’m proud of the wonderful contrast between the classic environment and the experimental cooking of chef de cuisine Tristan de Boer and his team’.

HET GROENE PALEIS | THE GREEN PALACE
A little serene haven in the centre that is as relaxing as it is efficient. The perfect place to grab a quick lunch, a drink or go for a casual dinner. In the summer, the terrace is a must.

WYNAND FOCKINK
A traditional & original bar and distillery just 2 minutes from the hotel. Their passion for real Jenever - the quintessential Dutch spirit - is visible in everything. The liqueur is poured to the rim of the glass, so bending over and trying to get the first sip without spilling is mandatory. It is a place that is as interesting for the drinks as it is for the history since it has existed since 1679. Try out typical Dutch world-famous liqueurs as ‘Volmaakt Geluk (Complete Happiness)’, ‘Bruidstranen (tears of the Bride)’ and ‘Hansje in de Kelder (Hans in the Cellar)’ and typical Amsterdam liqueurs like the ‘Boswandeling’ and the ‘Half in Half’. In summer you can go to the Summer Garden behind the bar. A beautiful courtyard to sip cocktails on a warm day.

BAR THE TAILOR
The bartenders, referred to as tailors for their ability to cater drinks to guests' specific tastes, are absolute rockstars. As skilled and professional as can be, but with great flair. Arne: ‘If I want to impress international guests, I bring them here’.
